Ingredient Breakdown
Jiaogulan (Gynostemma pentaphyllum), Powdered Leaf
660 mg per serving (330 mg per capsule)
A climbing vine native across South and East Asia, with distinctive five-lobed leaflets. The leaf is the part used — traditionally as a daily tea in southern China, Thailand and Vietnam.
It is often called southern ginseng, and that nickname is misleading enough to correct: jiaogulan belongs to the Cucurbitaceae, the cucumber and gourd family, while ginseng belongs to the Araliaceae. They are not related. What they do share is a class of compounds — jiaogulan contains dammarane-type saponins called gypenosides, and a handful of the two hundred-plus identified are also found in ginseng.
This is whole leaf, freeze-dried and milled. It is not a standardised extract, and we have not standardised it to a gypenoside percentage.
